The Vespa can quickly become a political topic – well, almost. The iconic scooter from Pontedera, Italy, is making headlines. Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker, who took office on March 3, was outed as a big fan of the Vespa.
Light blue beauty discovered in the chancellor’s office
It is 22 cm high, 12 cm long, 35 cm wide and a real eye-catcher. The LEGO CREATOR EXPERT 10298 Vespa 125 from 1960 was created by LEGO designers in close collaboration with the lifestyle brand’s engineers to mark the 75th anniversary of the Vespa. Now the light blue Italian icon made of Lego bricks decorates the new office of the Austrian Chancellor.
In addition to fly fishing and a passion for the saxophone, riding his Vespa is one of the Chancellor’s hobbies. He has been an enthusiastic Vespa rider since his youth, even if his busy schedule no longer allows him to go on quite as many tours these days. Stocker can be spotted on social media riding his Vespa GTS through Vienna’s old town. “What many people don’t know: I’m an enthusiastic Vespa rider in my leisure time!” says Stocker.
Claudia Plakolm, the Federal Minister without Portfolio in the Austrian Federal Chancellery, became aware of the Chancellor’s enthusiasm for the Italian scooter and welcomed him with a LEGO model of the Vespa for his new office. Plakolm had of course already put the 1106 parts together so that the Chancellor could immediately admire the collector’s item.
