The Vespa has been an absolute cult vehicle for several decades. There are countless enthusiasts around the world for whom riding the Italian scooter is associated with a special attitude to life. For them, Vespa meetings and rides with like-minded people are also part of the scene. On the positive side, there will be more events in 2022 after two Corona years. We present the highlights in Germany, Europe and the world.
The upcoming meetings in Germany
In southern Germany, the SIP Scootershop Open Day in Landsberg am Lech, Bavaria, on Saturday, 28 May 2022, is the kick-off to the new season. In 2019, at the last event before the Corona pandemic, the organisers were delighted to welcome around 2,000 scooter riders. This year, they also hope for many guests due to the conveniently located date. As the Thursday before the event is the Ascension Day holiday, vespisti from distant regions can relax on their journey with a bridge day on Friday.
By the way, Landsberg am Lech will once again become a Mecca for Vespa fans on 9 July 2022 at the SIP Scootershop Vespa & Lambretta Joyride.
On 23 and 24 July 2022, the Vespa Club Düsseldorf will host the 9th German Vespa Rally. All interested parties should make a note of this date. The organisers will publish further information about the event in due course. On the following weekend (29 to 31 July 2022), the VC Regensburg will celebrate its “30+2” anniversary.
Vespa meetings in Europe: These are the most important dates
Let’s take a look across the borders into neighbouring countries. Of course, there are also several Vespa events there that are worth a trip. A special rally for Vespa models built between 1946 and 1972 is being organised by the Italian Vespa Club Roverto from 17 to 19 June 2022.
After the European Vespa Days in Guimaraes, Portugal, had to be postponed in the past two years, the event seems to be able to take place at the third attempt. The trip with concerts, joint excursions and a cultural programme is planned from 30 June to 3 July 2022.
Selected Vespa lovers will have the opportunity to attend the Rally des Gones from 14 to 17 July 2022 in Lyon, France. The Scooter Club Lyonnais has invited 500 scooter riders from many European countries to attend the ride with an extensive social programme, where the focus is on international encounters. Those who are not among the chosen ones will find an adequate alternative event on the same weekend with the Vespa Days Luxembourg.
At the Vespa World Days in Bali
The most prominent event outside Europe is the Vespa World Days. These take place from 30 June to 3 July on the Indonesian island of Bali. For the first time, the venue for the international meeting is not on the home continent of Vespa. On the three main event days, there will be a colourful programme starting in the morning and ending with parties at night. Among other things, guests can visit the impressive rice terraces of Ubud after prior registration. Those who prefer to be on the water can be impressed by the splendour of the Indian Ocean on a boat tour. The highlight awaits on the last day with a visit to the 121-metre-high Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue.
Those who don’t want to travel so far for the Vespa World Days should consider a visit next year. Then the event will return to Europe, namely to Interlaken in Switzerland.
