As usual, EICMA 2022 featured new models: This year, exhibitors showed the new Vespa models GTV and GTS, the Primavera Color Vibe and the 946 10° Anniversario.
Launch in 2023: GTS 125 and 130
PIAGGIO showed the two new Vespa models GTS 300 and GTS 125 at the EICMA 2022, they will be available at the dealers from 2023. In both displacement classes there is a GTS, a GTS Super, a GTS SuperSport and a GTS SuperTech. PIAGGIO has stuck with the steel bodywork and traditional look of the GTS, but designed the seat a little more ergonomically than before. There is one innovation at the start of the Vespa: In future, riders of a GTS will no longer need a key, but will use the “keyless system” as a new feature, which also opens the seat and unlocks the steering wheel lock at the same time. The manufacturer has given the SuperTech a smart TFT colour display, while the other models have more centrally installed displays. The GTS and GTS Super can be retrofitted with Vespa’s MIA connectivity system. There are no rider reports yet, so we can be curious. Nothing has changed on the engine of the new GTS, however, which continues to produce the usual 23.8 hp (17.75 kW). However, tuning kits are already available for retrofitting.

Vespa GTV: reference to iconic models
Launched six years ago, the Vespa GTV has maintained a top position in the Vespa family ever since. With its “Faro Basso” (the low headlight), which now features modern LED technology, and the exposed handlebars, it makes stylistic references to very iconic models from the 1940s. The fair showed it in a new look with sporty paint finishes and a modern equipment package.
The new Primavera Color Vibe
In keeping with its name, the Vespa model Primavera Color Vibe scores with its already psychedelic colours, whereby the special paint finish is two-tone: buyers can choose between white Colour Vibe and orange Colour Vibe. The second colour is turquoise Ottanio, which is used for the footwell and the rims. To make the design a little more interesting, the creative team designed the Vespa with a contrasting graphic diagonally across the entire bodywork to the side leg shield and along the side panels, where the rounding eye-catcher finishes. There are also black details, such as the rear light and headlight frames, the trim strips, the spring cover, the fin of the front mudguard, the silencer cover, the passenger handle and the seat. The latter features discreet anthracite-coloured stitching. The Primavera Color Vibe will soon be available in 125cc and 50cc versions.
The new 946 10° Anniversario
A debut is the look of the new Vespa 946 with its name suffix nuova quarantasei, which means “new 1946”. The model was first offered in 2013 and quickly became a veritable collector’s item. In 2022, the manufacturer presents it with a special 10° Anniversario look, which is created by an exclusive special colour: it interprets the classic green colour of the Vespa in a contemporary way, resulting in a pastel green and including all the details of the 946 10° Anniversario. The finish appears thoroughly refined, the colouring beguiling with its warmth. The aluminium alloy rims were inspired in design by the drum brakes with which the historic Vespas were equipped. The seat and the hand-stitched grips are black. Since most of the parts come from the Vespa kit, they leave room for customisation.
