Since 1914, the two-wheeler sector has gathered in Milan, Italy, for the “Esposizione Internazionale Ciclo Motociclo e Accessori” (EICMA for short). This trade fair claims to be the most visited event in the world in terms of exhibitors, visitors, operators and international press interest. The trade fair is the highlight of the year for all motorcycle and scooter fans, with lots of new products and great expos.

Electric continues to expand at Vespa

The Vespa Primavera model marks three significant milestones: its market launch in 1968, its revival in 2013 and the launch of the latest electric version in 2023. Nevertheless, the combustion engine with an all-steel body continues to enjoy great popularity. The Primavera is available in versions from 50 to 150 cc.

The situation is similar with another member of the Vespa family from the 1960s – the Vespa Sprint. This scooter for young people is currently based on the look of the Primavera and is being further developed both technically and stylistically. The Sprint is also available as an E-Vespa.

Piaggio emphasizes:
“All models with electric drive feature technology developed in recent years on the Vespa Elettrica presented in 2018, where the battery is located under the seat. An efficient and compact layout that ensures that the unique and iconic Vespa design is retained. Because the Vespa is not just an electric scooter, but a work of art with a technological heart.”

The Primavera Tech version offers a keyless system with a rotary switch that replaces the conventional ignition lock. The wheels have also been renewed: the Primavera features a five-spoke design, while the Sprint S has a unique spiral design on its six spokes for enhanced aesthetics and dynamism.

In addition, the emblem on the mudguard of the Vespa Primavera and the appearance and refinement of the central steering wheel cover have been redesigned. The seat quality has been improved by using new materials in various models to ensure a higher quality of workmanship.

Modern technology and a variety of colors

Piaggio announces in a press release: “The new Vespa Primavera and Vespa Sprint S have not only undergone a comprehensive restyling, but have also been brought up to date technically, just as Vespa has always done throughout its history, embodying the best technology available for decades.”

Depending on the model, this includes a new instrument panel, a 3-inch LCD display or TFT screen, LED technology, app connectivity and even pictogram-based navigation with dual day/night view – a leap into the 21st century!

The E-Vespas offer models with 45 km/h, 75 km/h and a range of 125 kilometers in eco mode. The journey can be continued after a charging time of four hours.

Colorful variety and fusion of Piaggio and Disney

Piaggio presents a wealth of new colors that promise a better attitude to life through their names alone: Verde Amabile, Arancio Impulsivo, Beige Avvolgente or Rosso Coraggioso – to name just a few.

The Vespa designers describe their creations as an expression of a colorful and carefree universe that reflects the personality of the rider. The new Primavera and Sprint S take up the Vespa color tradition to create a more vibrant and modern look – a real feast for the eyes!

Finally, it’s worth noting that the partnership between Piaggio and Disney with the “Mickey Mouse” Vespa, while no longer entirely new, is still a refreshingly different idea. For a closer look at this model, we have the following article: “Vespa x Disney – a wonderful crossover
